About Patricia
Artist, Author, Instructor, EncaustiCamp and EncaustiKits creator, Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch has a passion for inspiring others-to lead them to know and proclaim 'I can do that!' as she did herself nearly two decades ago.
Her love for the medium of encaustic translates into her teaching, and students benefit from a passionate, engaging experience filled with all the knowledge Patricia has acquired and developed in her forage into this rich and diverse medium.
Patricia’s books, Encaustic Workshop, Encaustic Mixed Media, Encaustic Techniques: The Whole Ball of Wax and Encaustic Revelation are available on book shelves everywhere and two DVD’s in the medium are on the market thanks to FW Publishing and Creative Catalyst Productions. While always enjoying a challenge each day to go further, experiment more, and share unlimitedly, Trish has determined to step out, risk if you will, further with each new venture and idea; not only in her business development but in the creation of her own art as well. The belief that one feeds the other, that creating platforms through which inspiring others can occur feeds the creative growth and creation of her own art, keep Trish returning passionately to the studio as well as the planning desk.
Patricia and her husband John welcome guests and workshop participants to their Lexington, Kentucky home, OPENstudio, where they enjoy hosting Airbnb travelers as well as artists participating in private workshops or those with guest instructors.
Patricia exhibits her encaustic in galleries throughout the world. Her newly returning works on paper as well as oil on canvas are available in galleries throughout the southeast and Midwest.
In my current work I find myself striving to reintroduce color and use it in a sophisticated, understated yet more elementary way after several years of a strictly earth-toned palette.
This desire for color speaks to the influence and adoring love of our new home in the NoLi district of Lexington in which the vibrancy and integrity of this up and coming area have captured my heart.
As well, my own hearts-desire to explore the memories of places visited in the last decade of travel bespeaks the introduction of small pockets of color. Through this color and gentle rhythm I hope to speak back to a way of life and exploration without shouting it to the world~
