Description

An artist’s book is a medium of artistic expression that uses the form of a book as an inspiration. This format allows the viewer to travel through the work, gradually unfolding the visual story.

Join Donna for 3 days of hand making books and then creating artist's books using collage. You will explore the basics of book making, as you make 4 different books. You will then add images and words or text in order to create works of art with layers of meaning. You will discover what happens when you combine artmaking with book-binding
together.

You will come up with your own themes and subject matter. You can bring your own collage papers, including imagery, text (from old books, magazines, vintage letters or ledgers etc). Imagery can come from old photos, magazines, books, copy-free images from the internet, AI)  You are also welcome to bring nature… leaves, small sticks, small rocks, lichen, or pressed flowers.
Each morning you will make a new hand made book. Then you will spend the day working towards transforming that blank book into an artist’s book. You may not finish each book at the end of the day, because the next morning you will make a new book. Each book will be created so you can finish them in your studio after the workshop ends. You will go home filled with inspiration and with 4 handmade books which you can finish at your own studio at your own pace.
