Andrea Lopez Artist Statement
I am captivated by the textures found in old walls—the layers of paint, cracks, and weathered surfaces that hold stories of time and place. These textures inspire my creative process, which involves the constant addition and subtraction of paint. A brush is as essential to my work as a rag, both tools allowing me to build and reveal layers, creating depth and complexity.
Through the use of vibrant, dynamic color, I strive to evoke a sense of childhood joy and wonder—a time when everything felt fresh and alive with possibility. My work is an exploration of memory and emotion, blending the tactile beauty of the past with the boundless spirit of imagination.
