Description
What does ‘Living the Poem” mean? In Japan, there is a concept called Yutori*. It translates to “living with spaciousness”. It can also mean that after you read a poem… just knowing you can hold it, you can be in that space of the poem. When you read a poem, you’re in a quiet place, when you’re remembering, savoring an image, allowing your mind to move from one thought to another, that’s a poem. A poem allows you to see differently.
In this workshop, like in other Donna Watson-led classes you might have attended, you will still find out about Wabi Sabi, the Japanese concept of accepting the impermanence of everything. You will still hand paint Japanese washi papers. And you will still learn design elements and principles, and content. Only this time, your content will be based on a poem (or poems) of your choice. You will learn how to create a series of collages based on your poems.
This is an in-person workshop, only one of 2 workshops Donna is teaching on location this year. The dates are May 19th, 20th, and 21st at LYNN HANSON GALLERY DESIGN STUDIO in Seattle, WA. For questions, contact Lynn Hanson by email at: lynnhansongallery@gmail.com or call: 206-960-2118.
*Yutori: It means to make the conscious decision to slow down, and savor the world around you. Spaciousness will open up around you.
